This Sunday is Evaluate Your Life Day. Yes it might sound like one of those quirky “national days” dreamt up by someone with too much time and a social media calendar to fill up, but I actually really like the thinking behind this one, and the timing couldn’t be better!
Why? Because this week, we’re taking our clients away for two full days dedicated to doing exactly that: pausing, reflecting, and evaluating where they are both personally and professionally, and as leaders.
The Power of Hitting Pause
Most of us live life at full tilt. We spend our days jumping between meetings, emails, and problems that need solving right now.
Before we know it, another quarter’s gone, another goalpost’s moved, and we’re still running on the same treadmill, just a bit faster.
The trouble is, progress without reflection can feel a lot like motion without direction. You’re busy, but are you moving toward what really matters?
That’s why I think that Evaluate Your Life Day really is worth marking. It’s not about navel-gazing or rewriting your five-year plan over a flat white. It’s about deliberately hitting the pause button to ask yourself:
- What’s working?
- What’s changed?
- What needs to change next?
The Away Day Mindset
Our away day is the perfect opportunity to step back from the noise and look at the bigger picture. We’ve taking them out of the office and away from home so there’s nothing to distract them.
Over the two days they’ll be exploring:
- Where they are now: their current reality, achievements, and challenges
- What progress they’ve made: the wins worth celebrating
- Where the gaps are: what’s holding them back or draining energy
- How satisfied they really feel: in work, leadership, and (probably most importantly) life
It’s not about looking back and picking holes in what they did (or should have done!), it’s about understanding it so they can make better choices for the future.
From Reflection to Action
The real magic of reflection isn’t just in taking in what you’ve already done. It’s in what comes next.
Once you’ve got clarity on where you are, you can build a plan for where you want to go; one that’s realistic, excites you, and is aligned with your values and priorities.
That’s why, after the away day, we help our clients translate their insights into action. Whether it’s building better habits, leading with more focus, or creating the space to think strategically again, it all starts with a pause.
Your Turn
You don’t need an away day to evaluate your life, though a change of scenery certainly helps (especially if it involves beach walks and a glass of wine or two!)!
Take 15 quiet minutes this weekend. Grab a notebook and ask yourself:
- What’s brought me the most satisfaction recently?
- Where do I feel stretched, stuck, or scattered?
- What one change would make the biggest difference?
Simple questions. Powerful answers.
Evaluate Your Life Day isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing better.
And that’s where high-impact leadership really begins.
