Rennie Grove Peace Golf Day in memory of Mick Taylor (1959 - 2023)

Thank you for agreeing to support the Golf Day on Wednesday 9th September 2026 to raise valuable funds for Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care and remembering Mick Taylor, 3-time Men's Captain at Oakland Park Golf Club.

Details of the golf club can be found here:

Mick Taylor

We're expecting 80 golfers so it would be helpful if you could share these notes with all members of your team so that everyone knows what to expect on the day.

The clubhouse will be open from 8.00am for complimentary tea and coffee, with thanks to Artemis Tree Services from 8.30am. Food and other refreshments will be available for those that wish to purchase them. The club is cash free.

Raffle tickets will be on sale and any prizes you'd like to donate for the raffle will be gratefully received. (We will take cash or card).

The draw for the raffle will take place whilst the golf is taking place so prizes can be collected once you return to the clubhouse.

There will be a shotgun-start at 10.30 with Men playing off the Yellow Tees and Women off the Red. Your starting hole will be on your scorecard and there will be Oakland Park members past and present to direct anyone unclear as to how to get to their starting hole.

All teams have 4 players, playing off full Handicap Index or a maximum of 28.0 for those without an official handicap. The best two Stableford scores on each hole will count as the team score. In addition to individual trophies for the winning team, they will be presented with the Mick Taylor Memorial Trophy which may be kept until the next event.

Please allocate one of your team to keep the team score, being careful to show which players scored on each hole. Any players who are not going to score should pick up to keep a good overall speed of play. If any player thinks a shot might result in a lost ball, please play a provisional ball. The maximum time to look for a lost ball is 3 minutes and any ball not found in that time is lost.

If any group feels they are holding up a group behind, please speed up - or if necessary, let the faster group through.

The golf course will be busy. Please show the normal courtesies of the game at all times. Please shout if you think a ball might stray towards other golfers. Should a ball be hit off the course (most likely on either the 4th or 17th hole) please report the incident to the club at the end of your round for insurance purposes.

There are nearest the pin and longest drive prizes. These are included in the entry fee. There will be volunteers in buggies providing snacks and drinks in exchange for voluntary donations to the Charity.

After your round, please hand in your scorecard (signed by a least one player) to one of the organisers. The decision of the organisers in respect of prizes is final even if, after the event, they are shown to have been wrong. We don't require golfers to change for lunch from golfing attire unless they wish to do so but please don't enter the main clubhouse area with wet or dirty shoes.

You may then make purchases at the 'non-cash' bar.

A two-course meal will be served at approximately 3.00pm. Fish or vegetarian options are avaiable for those that require it.

Please let us know by Friday 4th September of any dietary requirements by emailing Ash Taylor.

Brief speeches, a limited auction (see below) and prize giving will follow. We aim to have everything concluded by 4.30pm.

If there are any travel or other difficulties on the morning of the event please ring or text Peter Hollingsworth on 0775 368 6805 or Ash Taylor on 07801 994215.
