A couple of weeks ago, something powerful happened.
Over 80 people came together for the second annual Charity Golf Day, which I helped to organise, and The Business Clubhouse proudly sponsored.
We raised a brilliant £6,788.03 for Rennie Grove Hospice, a small charity that makes a huge difference to the lives of so many.
It was a fun, heart-filled day with plenty of laughs, high-fives, and maybe the odd dodgy shot…but underneath the fresh air and fairways, there was something far more important at play, something I’ve been reflecting on since.
Purpose and direction.
Those two words sit at the heart of the work I do with business owners but they also defined the day itself.
Why Purpose + Direction Matter
If you’re a leader, business owner, or someone chasing a goal, chances are you’re already busy. Maybe even too busy.
Tasks pile up. The to-do list grows. Days blur.
And yet many people still feel stuck. Like they’re working hard but not moving forward.
That’s where purpose and direction come in.
- Purpose gives meaning to what we do. It connects our effort to something that matters.
- Direction gives focus. It helps us move forward, not just around in circles.
When you have both, you stop reacting and start leading.
And when a group has both, like we did on the golf day, the results speak for themselves.
A Day That Mattered and Made a Difference

This wasn’t just about golf.
It was about bringing people together around a shared purpose: supporting an organisation that brings compassion, dignity and care to families facing some of life’s hardest moments. Creating momentum and direction – turning a one-off idea into an annual event that’s growing in impact and influence.
It was about reminding all of us that when we pause, get intentional, and align our energy towards something meaningful, we don’t just feel good – we get results.
Why The Business Clubhouse Sponsored the Whole Event
Because this is what we stand for.
At The Business Clubhouse, we help people grow stronger businesses by becoming stronger leaders. That starts with clarity of purpose and direction, whether you’re:
- trying to scale
- trying to slow down
- or trying to make more time for the people and things that matter most.
This event wasn’t a marketing exercise. It was an example of what we teach and believe:
Leadership isn’t just about results. It’s about impact, and impact comes when you lead with purpose and move with direction.
What’s Next?
We’ll do it all again next year – and you’re invited.
But until then, I’d encourage you to pause and ask yourself:
- What’s my purpose right now?
- Am I heading in the direction that matches it?
- Who am I bringing with me?
When you combine purpose and direction and surround yourself with the right people, anything is possible.
Just ask the 80+ people who came together and raised nearly £7,000 for a cause that matters.
If this resonates, I’d love it if you shared it with someone building a business or leading with intention.
And if you’re working on rediscovering your own purpose and direction, drop me a message so we can have a chat.
