Before joining the Effective Personal Productivity programme, Sajeewa found himself constantly busy but not necessarily productive. His days often felt scattered, with little structure, and he spent a lot of time reacting to the next issue rather than proactively managing his workload.
“I was always busy, but it never felt like I was moving forward,” Sajeewa explains. “Even after a short day, I was mentally drained – not because I had too much work, but because I wasn’t handling it in the right way.”
Without a clear system, Sajeewa juggled his coaching responsibilities and other tasks by keeping everything in his head. This approach left him feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and without a sense of real progress, both professionally and personally.
The Solution
Looking for a better way to manage his time and energy, Sajeewa enrolled in the Effective Personal Productivity programme, led by Ash.
The programme offered practical strategies for improving focus, planning, and overall productivity – helping participants shift from being reactive to being intentional in their work.
With a combination of structured learning, peer support, and practical exercises, Sajeewa began adopting key habits such as:
-
Weekly planning based on high-value activities
-
Structured daily task management instead of relying on memory
-
Tackling the most important tasks first to build momentum each day
-
Calendar blocking to protect time for focused work
-
Learning to set boundaries and delegate when appropriate
-
Regular reflection to improve performance and reduce overwhelm
The Results
The shift was both immediate and sustainable.
“Starting to plan every Sunday and putting everything into my calendar made a huge difference,” says Sajeewa. “It completely changed how I approach my work.”
No longer relying on mental lists, Sajeewa began each day with clarity and a clear sense of priority. He noticed a significant improvement in communication with his team and more positive feedback from colleagues, coaches, and players. His stress levels dropped as his ability to manage tasks and stay focused improved.
Beyond just keeping on top of day-to-day tasks, Sajeewa’s mindset shifted towards continuous growth. He now approaches each week with the aim of improving (even if just by 1% at a time) and it’s made a real difference in both his professional and personal life.
In Sajeewa’s Words
“Before the programme, I was exhausted after just six hours, not because I was overloaded, but because I wasn’t organised.
Learning to plan ahead and get everything out of my head onto paper or into my calendar has been game-changing. I now reflect every week and set clear, achievable goals.
Focusing on small, consistent improvements, just 1% better each time, has made a huge difference. I feel more in control, more productive, and less stressed.”
Ash’s View
“Sajeewa showed remarkable growth during the programme. He fully embraced the tools and made the commitment to stick with the system, which transformed how he works.
It’s been brilliant to see him shift from feeling reactive and overwhelmed to becoming proactive, focused, and reflective. His progress is a testament to how having the right structure, combined with a growth mindset, can lead to huge improvements in productivity, confidence, and wellbeing.
It was an absolute pleasure to support Sajeewa over the six months, and I commend Middlesex in the Community for their commitment to developing their people.”
