Sunshine, Crème Eggs, And An Invitation…

The Easter Bank Holiday weekend is one of my favourite times of the year.

If the sun’s shining, you’re onto a winner… and I’ve seen the weather report – it’s good news!

Now that the clocks have gone forward and spring is in bloom, the world feels that little bit brighter.

And it’s a great moment to take the time to reflect on where you’re at.

First Quarter Done?

I don’t tend to look at the year in Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 terms, but I know a lot of people do.

And with the new tax year starting, it brings things into sharp focus.

Because Good Friday is the first bank holiday since New Year’s Day, which means we’re more than a quarter of the way through 2023 and heading into a new financial year…

So, are you on track?

It’s all good and well starting the year with the best of intentions, but the reality is that managing a business is an incredibly time-consuming life.

And many business owners find that they’re actually running their business, not managing it.

There’s an easy way to tell if that’s you – if the business stops when you’re not there, you’re running it.

Because it’s only natural to want to control things in your business.

Are You In Control?

At a certain point that control simply becomes reliance, and that’s when you find yourself in a situation where you ARE the business.

That’s not necessarily always a bad thing but it will depend entirely on where you are and what your goals are. If you’ve got any plans to spend less of your time on the day-to-day running of the business, it might not be ideal.

The important thing is to consider why you started the business in the first place – was it to create something for your children to take over?

Or was it to give yourself more free time to spend with your family?

Or simply to give yourself enough income to drive a nice car, live in a nice leafy suburb and go on the holidays you want to?

Whatever it may be, are you achieving that goal? And is what you’re doing likely to get you to that point?

If not, it might be worth us having a chat. And it’s the sort of thing we’ll be looking at helping business owners just like you sort out
