Ed Sheeran Is Not An Idiot

Ed Sheeran’s no fool.

He’s been in court this week over copyright claims over Marvin Gaye’s famous ‘Let’s Get It On’ – and at one point he told the court that he’s not an idiot.

The line really resonated with me for a few reasons…

Firstly, it’s a bizarre headline to read. But then, when you think about it a bit more, he’s absolutely right.

Ed Sheeran is one of the world’s most successful artists and he’s had number one after number one after number one – both in the album and singles charts.

Thinking Out Loud

If you’ll allow me the pun, I’ve been thinking out loud about Ed Sheeran since I read the story on his copyright case.

He’s sold out multiple world tours, collaborated with some of the world’s most famous musicians, and he sponsors his hometown football club.

It’s pretty plain to see he’s no idiot.

Musicians today are as much businesspeople as they are artists, and as far as that side of things goes, Ed Sheeran has marketed himself more successfully than most.

I’d wager that very few people thought he’d reach the level of fame and success that he has when he first started.

Ed Sheeran’s no idiot – and neither are you.

Success Isn’t A Linear Path

Anyone that takes the brave and monumental step of starting their own business deserves a huge amount of credit.

But the work doesn’t stop there.

The route to success is different for everyone but it’s never a straight path.

There’s a lot of sacrifice that goes into running a business and at times it can feel like you’ve put your life and soul into it for scant return.

And every now and then it can feel like you’ve hit a brick wall in terms of progress…

Which is precisely when it’s time to double your efforts, focus on what’s important, and work out how to find a way through.

It might be around the wall, it might be over it, or it might be smashing straight through it – but whatever it is, we’re here to help you find that route past it.

There’s no silver bullet in marketing or in business in general. I’ll tell you that now – if you’re looking for one simple thing that will solve all your problems… you’re going to be pretty disappointed.

But the good news is that because there’s more than one route to success, there’s always another perspective for you to look at things with.

And that’s something we’re always keen to impress on business owners at The Business Clubhouse.

So, what’s your biggest challenge right now? Let me know and let’s see if we can solve it together…
